Today's Thai wedding has been modified to consume less time by performing all the ceremonies in one day and Samui Wedding can organize your wedding in the proper time and on your desire...
Following is Tradition Thai Buddhist style... This requires that the couple begin the Buddhist religious ceremony at daybreak. They start merit making by together spooning plain rice into the bowls of an invited group of an invited group of monks, to be taken back to the temple along with other entrees. It is believed that the person whose hand covers the other's while serving, will have the upper hand in their marriage. The monks are then served a full meal, after which the couple presents them with alms. They then bless the marriage by chanting prayers of health, happiness and prosperity and sprinkle holy water on the couple. The hosts keep the remaining holy water to use later in the nam sang ritual.
Next is the Conch Shell Water or Lang Nam Sang ceremony. Here the newly weds kneel on a pedestal with their hands clasped together. The bride must be on the left.
The guest of honor or one parents-in law places with the looped end of a sacred string, uniting the couple. After this he pours holy water from a conch shell over each of their clasped hands whilst giving his blessings. The rest of the guests follow suit, starring with the most senior person.
The sequence and details of a Thai ceremony may vary depending on regional customs but in essence they are all the same. A wedding marks the beginning of a new family.
